Anadolu Health Ceter Interior - Picture Courtesy of Rees Associates, Inc.The Anadolu Health Center located in Gebze-Kocaeli, Turkey is setting the standard for quality healthcare in the eastern Mediterranean region. When the Anadolu Foundation decided to construct a new state of the art hospital to serve the population of the Aegean region, the foundation had money and desire but was without a healthcare services delivery organization. The Anadolu Foundation led by Murat Dayanikli, M.D. conducted a global search to organize the team which was to create the Anadolu Health Center. After interviewing potential firms from Asia, Europe and North America, Anadolu selected the international team comprised of American University Health Care; strategic and operational planning and Rees Associates, Inc.; medical planning and architecture to create the new Anadolu Health Center.

AUHC organized a steering committee of prominent Turkish academic physicians and led the planning process to create an organizational plan, staffing plan and strategic vision for the new Anadolu Health Center. AUHC continued through the architectural design process as the functional and operation leader within the strategic planning sessions thereby providing the organizational vision upon which the architects, medical planners, engineers and interior designers based their planning and design.

Anadolu has become the standard not only in the Aegean region as intended, but has reached a level of international acclaim to where it has become the hospital of note throughout the eastern Mediterranean. The hospital has been published in eight languages.

During the construction period of the hospital, market research revealed that the potential private pay customers required a brand image for the hospital if they were to use the hospital. American University Health Care facilitated a partnership between the Anadolu Foundation and John Hopkins Medicine International. Today the hospital operates as the John Hopkins Anadolu Health Center. Ten years following the American University Health Care effort, the Anadolu Health Center is the recognized medical leader in the region and has received multiple awards for medical design, medical operations, architectural design but most of all, at the ten year anniversary of American University Health Care’s involvement, the hospital is recognized as the highest quality source of healthcare services in the eastern Mediterranean.
